Spore formation in reference to bacteria means the bacteria has the ability to go into a dormant like state where they form an endospore in response to tough conditions. It’s much different than a fungus that releases a large number of spores. Branching in bacteria is relatively rare as well. When present, it can be seen under the microscope.
